(베니스=코리아헤럴드 박윤아 기자) 흰 캔버스 위를 가로지르는 거대한 붓질 하나가 공간의 공기를 단숨에 바꿔 놓는다. 절제된 선은 금방이라도 끊어질 듯한 긴장감을 품으면서도, 이상하리만치 고요한 조화를 만들어낸다. 또 다른 전시 공간에서는 차가운 돌과 철판이 서로를 마주한 채 아무 말 없이 서 있다. 침묵 속의 두 물성은 밀어내고 끌어당기기를 반복하며 묘한 울림을 남긴다. 한국 단색화의 거장 이우환의 작품이 지닌 마법 같은 힘이다. 언뜻 그의 작업은 미니멀하고 단순해 보인다. 그러나 베니스에서 우연히 만난 구순의 작가는 그 단순함이야말로 수없이 반복한 몸의 움직임과 긴 시간의 사유 끝에 겨우 도달할 수 있는 것이라고 말했다.
