Elective surgery wait times almost double in 20 years as patients wait longer in emergency

Planned surgery wait times in public hospitals are the longest on record- with median wait times at 49 days. That is according to the AMA’s annual public hospital report card out today. Dr Sarah Whitelaw from the AMA says blown out wait times can be put down to a combination of factors.
