Social media driving global increase in demand for exotic pets

Experts are worried the rising global demand for exotic pets is putting animals at risk of abuse and humans at risk of infectious. The trend, spurred by social media, is seeing a growing number of animals being bought and sold online, including Australian native species. Dr Phil Cassey from the University of Adelaide has co-published new research on the issue, and says the pandemic has helped fuel the problem.
