The Korea Food and Drug Administration announced Monday that Koreans’ average intake of red meat or processed meat posed little risk in relation to a recent report by the World Health Organization linking consumption of the food to cancer.
The WHO reported earlier that “the International Agency for Research on Cancer classified the consumption of both red meat and processed meat as carcinogenic to humans.”
However, the WHO soon clarified the statement, saying that it was not asking people to entirely stop eating meat.
Experts have noted that it is not only the amount eaten that increases cancer rates but also includes factors like dietary habits and age.
