Wages have decreased for temporary workers for two years in a row, data showed Monday.

Statistics Korea and the Ministry of Employment and Labor said temporary workers were paid a net wage of 1.29 million won ($1,150) per month on average in the first quarter of 2015, a 1.1 percent decrease from the same period last year (1.30 million won).

Meanwhile, regular workers were paid 3.24 million won per month on average in the first quarter of 2015, a 2.2 percent increase from last year’s 3.16 million won.

Experts said the decrease in temporary worker pay was due to young people and senior citizens increasingly taking temporary jobs, as such jobs continue to increase in the economic slowdown.
