Seoul ranks third globally in AI cities index, tops AI adoption
서울, 세계 AI 도시 지수 3위…AI 도입·활용은 1위
Seoul ranked third overall and first in artificial intelligence adoption and use in the 2026 AI Cities Index released by The Observer, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
서울이 영국 매체 더 옵서버(The Observer)가 발표한 '2026 AI 도시 지수'에서 종합 3위를 기록했으며, 인공지능(AI) 도입 및 활용 부문에서는 1위에 올랐다고 서울시가 밝혔다.
The San Francisco Bay Area topped the ranking, followed by New York, while Seoul placed ahead of Beijing, Paris and London.
샌프란시스코 베이 지역이 종합 1위를 차지했으며, 뉴욕이 뒤를 이었다. 서울은 베이징, 파리, 런던보다 높은 순위를 기록했다.
The index evaluated 57 cities across 36 countries in three AI categories: investment, innovation, and adoption and use. It drew on 50 indicators, combining quantitative data with qualitative field research.
이번 지수는 36개국 57개 도시를 대상으로 투자, 혁신, 도입 및 활용 등 세 가지 AI 분야를 평가했다. 정량적 데이터와 현장 정성 조사를 결합해 총 50개 지표를 분석했다.
The adoption and use category measures how well infrastructure, institutions and systems support AI applications across businesses, government, education and communities.
도입 및 활용 부문은 기업, 정부, 교육기관, 지역사회 전반에서 인프라와 제도, 시스템이 AI 활용을 얼마나 효과적으로 뒷받침하는지를 측정한다.
The Observer cited Seoul’s support for small and medium-sized enterprises through its AI Innovation Committee and its strong semiconductor industry, led by Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
더 옵서버는 서울시 AI혁신위원회를 통한 중소기업 지원과 삼성전자, SK하이닉스가 이끄는 강력한 반도체 산업을 서울의 주요 강점으로 꼽았다.
