Sangmidang Holdings Vice Chairman Hur Jin-soo stepped up the Korean food group's global expansion drive with high-level talks in Paris aimed at strengthening its foothold in North America and opening new opportunities in Europe.
Hur attended a reception hosted by US Ambassador to France Charles Kushner at the ambassador's residence on Oct. 18, bringing together 130 representatives from more than 80 companies. Sangmidang Holdings was the only Korean company invited.
The event was organized for global partners of Gellert Global Group, a US-based food import and distribution company with annual revenue exceeding $1.7 billion. GGG sources more than 4,000 products from over 60 countries and supplies major North American retailers, restaurants, hotels and foodservice operators.
Hur met GGG Chairman George Gellert and other executives to discuss expanding their business partnership. The following day, Gellert and Kushner visited Samlip's booth at SIAL Paris 2026, an international food industry trade fair.
The two companies are exploring opportunities to extend their cooperation beyond the US to Canada and Mexico.
Hur also held discussions with European ingredient suppliers and bakery manufacturers as Sangmidang Holdings explores opportunities to expand its Samlip and Paris Baguette businesses in Europe.
"The event helped strengthen ties with global partners and build networks for expansion in North America and Europe," a Sangmidang Holdings official said. "We will continue to expand global partnerships and pursue overseas opportunities."
