Shinhan Financial Group explored closer Korea-Japan cooperation in transition finance, carbon markets and digital assets at a Seoul conference, the group said Tuesday.
Held Monday at the Korea Financial Investment Association in Yeouido, the conference brought together representatives from academia, financial authorities and the Asian Development Bank to discuss building trusted climate finance infrastructure in Asia.
Yonsei University’s Graduate School of Environmental Finance and the Korea Green Finance Forum organized the event, with Shinhan as a sponsor. Sessions covered financing the shift to lower-carbon business models, digital finance innovation and digital asset markets.
During a panel on the future of climate and digital finance in Asia, Shinhan outlined its transition finance strategy and discussed regulatory compliance for digital assets.
The group said it aims to build on ties with Korean and Japanese policymakers and financial institutions to pursue joint business opportunities.
“Climate change and digital transformation are important trends reshaping the financial industry,” a Shinhan official said. “We will continue working closely with Korean and Japanese financial institutions to pursue sustainable growth and new business opportunities in climate and digital finance.”
