S. Korea ranks second in wig patents worldwide
한국, 세계 가발 특허 경쟁력 2위
Wigs are evolving from products used to conceal hair loss into fashion items for self-expression, and South Korea has emerged as the world’s second-most competitive country in wig-related patents.
가발이 탈모를 가리기 위한 제품에서 자기표현을 위한 패션 아이템으로 진화하는 가운데, 한국이 가발 관련 특허 분야에서 세계 2위의 경쟁력을 갖춘 것으로 나타났다.
According to the Ministry of Intellectual Property, an analysis released Aug. 17 of wig-related patents filed with the world’s five largest intellectual property offices between 2004 and 2023 showed South Korea tied for second in cumulative patent filings and ranked second in granted patents.
특허청에 따르면, 2004년부터 2023년까지 세계 5대 지식재산권 사무소에 출원된 가발 관련 특허를 분석한 결과, 한국은 누적 특허 출원 건수에서 공동 2위, 등록 특허 건수에서 2위를 기록했다. 해당 분석 결과는 8월 17일 발표됐다.
Japan ranked first with 1,374 filings, or 36 percent of the total. South Korea and the United States tied for second with 756 filings each, accounting for 20 percent.
일본은 1,374건을 출원해 전체의 36%로 1위를 차지했다. 한국과 미국은 각각 756건을 출원해 20%를 차지하며 공동 2위에 올랐다.
Japan also led in granted patents with 637, or 36 percent, followed by South Korea with 523 (30 percent) and the US with 292 (17 percent).
등록 특허에서도 일본이 637건으로 전체의 36%를 차지해 1위를 기록했다. 한국은 523건(30%)으로 뒤를 이었으며, 미국은 292건(17%)으로 3위를 차지했다.
Among the top individual applicants, South Korean wigmaker Hi-Mo ranked seventh globally with 35 filings. Japanese companies Kaneka, Aderans and Denka took the top three spots with 293, 284 and 164 filings, respectively.
주요 출원인 가운데 한국 가발업체 하이모는 35건을 출원해 세계 7위에 올랐다. 일본 기업인 가네카, 아데랑스, 덴카는 각각 293건, 284건, 164건을 출원해 1~3위를 차지했다.
