Standard Chartered Bank Korea is offering first-time customers an annual interest rate of up to 4.0 percent on its Hi Account as part of a promotional campaign running through Dec. 31.
Customers who open the demand deposit account during the campaign will receive an additional 3.4 percentage points regardless of their balance. The promotional rate applies through Jan. 31, 2027.
The offer applies to customers who open the account within 31 days of registering their information with the bank, as well as existing clients who have held no won- or foreign currency-denominated demand deposit, savings or installment savings accounts with SC Bank Korea during the previous year.
The Hi Account carries a base annual rate of 0.1 percent. During the campaign, eligible customers can receive a 3.4 percentage-point promotional rate, plus an additional 0.1 percentage point for opening the account through mobile banking or a branch. Customers who consent to marketing communications can receive another 0.2 percentage point, while Priority Banking customers qualify for an additional 0.2 percentage point, bringing the maximum rate to 4.0 percent.
The account allows customers to make deposits and withdrawals at any time and waives various fees, including those for online and mobile transfers and ATM withdrawals.
“We hope this event will allow more customers to experience the differentiated benefits of the Hi Account,” said Jung Jae-won, head of secured lending and deposit products at SC Bank Korea. “We will continue to provide products and benefits tailored to customers’ financial needs.”
