Chuseok overseas trips rise, spending falls
추석 해외여행 증가, 여행객 1인당 지출은 감소
Nearby overseas destinations such as Japan and Vietnam are emerging as popular choices among Korean travelers during the upcoming Chuseok holiday, with travel demand rising while spending per traveler has declined slightly from a year earlier.
일본과 베트남 등 가까운 해외 여행지가 다가오는 추석 연휴 기간 한국인 여행객들에게 인기 있는 선택지로 떠오르고 있다. 여행 수요는 증가하는 반면 여행객 1인당 지출액은 1년 전보다 소폭 감소할 것으로 예상된다.
According to a survey of 1,000 Korean travelers conducted by global travel platform Skyscanner, 56 percent said they plan to travel during Chuseok.
글로벌 여행 플랫폼 스카이스캐너가 한국인 여행객 1,000명을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사에 따르면, 응답자의 56%가 추석 연휴 기간 여행을 계획하고 있다고 답했다.
Flight searches for departures from Korea between Sept. 13 and Oct. 3 surged 92.4 percent from searches for the corresponding period around last year’s Chuseok, based on searches made between Jan. 1 and July 31 of each year.
매년 1월 1일부터 7월 31일까지의 검색 데이터를 기준으로, 올해 9월 13일부터 10월 3일까지 한국에서 출발하는 항공편 검색량은 지난해 추석 연휴와 같은 기간의 검색량보다 92.4% 급증했다.
Despite the rise in travel demand, average spending per traveler is expected to fall slightly to 1.33 million won ($960), down from a year earlier.
여행 수요가 증가했음에도 여행객 1인당 평균 지출액은 133만원(960달러)으로 소폭 감소할 것으로 예상된다.
According to Skyscanner search data, Tokyo was the most popular overseas destination, followed by Nha Trang in Vietnam, Japan's Sapporo, Shanghai, Taiwan capital Taipei, Da Nang in Vietnam, Sydney, Bangkok, Vietnam's largest island Phu Quoc and Osaka, Japan. Nine of the top 10 destinations were in Asia, reflecting Korean travelers’ preference for relatively short-haul trips.
스카이스캐너 검색 데이터에 따르면 가장 인기 있는 해외 여행지는 도쿄였으며, 베트남 나트랑, 일본 삿포로, 상하이, 대만 수도 타이베이, 베트남 다낭, 시드니, 방콕, 베트남 최대 섬 푸꾸옥, 일본 오사카가 뒤를 이었다. 상위 10개 여행지 가운데 9곳이 아시아 지역으로, 비교적 단거리 여행을 선호하는 한국인 여행객들의 성향을 보여준다.
