Gimbap prices rise faster than other dining-out staples
김밥 가격, 외식 대표 메뉴보다 더 빠르게 상승
Gimbap prices are rising faster than dining out as the costs of rice, eggs and seaweed continue to climb.
쌀과 달걀, 김 가격이 계속 오르면서 김밥 가격이 외식 물가보다 더 빠르게 상승하고 있다.
According to the Korea Consumer Agency, the average price of a roll of gimbap in Seoul reached 3,838 won ($2.77) in June, up 5.9 percent from a year earlier. It marked the sharpest increase among the eight popular dishes surveyed, followed by samgyeopsal at 4.3 percent, kalguksu at 3.6 percent, and naengmyeon and samgyetang at 2.8 percent each.
한국소비자원에 따르면 6월 서울 지역 김밥 한 줄의 평균 가격은 3,838원으로, 1년 전보다 5.9% 올랐다. 이는 조사 대상 인기 외식 메뉴 8개 가운데 가장 높은 상승률이다. 삼겹살이 4.3%로 뒤를 이었고, 칼국수는 3.6%, 냉면과 삼계탕은 각각 2.8% 상승했다.
The increase was driven largely by higher ingredient costs. Rice prices rose 13.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, while egg and seaweed prices increased 9 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively.
가격 상승은 주로 식재료 가격이 오른 데 따른 것이다. 2분기 쌀 가격은 전년 동기 대비 13.2% 올랐으며, 달걀과 김 가격도 각각 9%, 2.5% 상승했다.
Gimbap prices rose another 4.5 percent in July, outpacing increases in other major dining-out items. With inflation expected to remain elevated, dining-out costs are unlikely to ease in the near term.
김밥 가격은 7월에도 4.5% 추가로 올라 주요 외식 품목의 가격 상승률을 웃돌았다. 인플레이션이 높은 수준을 이어갈 것으로 예상되면서 외식 비용도 단기간에 하락하기는 어려울 것으로 보인다.
