"Letting off some steam," "Letting go of your anger"
This has two main meanings, but one is pretty much something for which Korea's hoesik culture was made: letting go of your anger. We'd say letting off some steam, for cases where people cut loose and have a good-natured rant. It doesn't quite work for cases where people lash out or get angry at others.
"I just need to vent."
"I just need to vent" is something a person might say before complaining about their situation to a third party in an impassioned way, particularly for the purpose of letting go of anger or other emotions. In a literal sense, venting carries the same meaning as "letting off steam," although that term is broader. Some people like to let off steam by going for a long run and tiring themselves out, for example, while venting is purely verbal. Especially if two or more people are venting together, it can be referred to as a "vent session."
문자 그대로의 의미에서 "venting"은 "letting off steam"과 비슷하지만, "letting off steam"이 더 넓은 의미를 갖습니다.
“to take (one’s anger) out on ~"
In other contexts translating this term might be closer to "to take (one’s anger) out on ~." This expression is more often used by the person on the receiving end of said anger. For example, maybe your sibling got scolded by a teacher or teased by someone at school but instead of addressing the problem they are rude to or short with you, to which you could respond, "Don’t take it out on me!"
그럴 때 당신은 이렇게 말할 수 있습니다: "Don’t take it out on me!"
