Anticipation is building for the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, Italy’s first Winter Games in two decades. The 25th Winter Olympic Games will open on Feb. 6 and run through Feb. 22.
이탈리아에서 20년 만에 열리는 동계올림픽인 2026 밀라노·코르티나담페초 동계올림픽을 향한 기대감이 높아지고 있다. 제25회 동계올림픽은 2026년 2월 6일 개막해 2월 22일까지 열린다.
In South Korea, interest is high not only because of the global competition but also due to recent Olympic history. At the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games, South Korea finished seventh in the medal standings with 17 medals, including five golds, eight silvers and four bronzes - its best result ever. At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, the team took home nine medals - two golds, five silvers and two bronzes - and placed 14th overall.
한국에서도 이번 대회에 대한 관심은 각별하다. 세계적인 스포츠 축제라는 점뿐 아니라 최근 동계올림픽에서의 성과가 기대감을 더욱 키우고 있기 때문이다. 한국은 2018년 평창 동계올림픽에서 금메달 5개, 은메달 8개, 동메달 4개 등 총 17개의 메달을 획득하며 종합 7위를 기록, 역대 최고 성적을 거뒀다. 이어 2022년 베이징 동계올림픽에서는 금메달 2개, 은메달 5개, 동메달 2개 등 총 9개의 메달로 종합 14위에 올랐다.
The 2026 Games are seen in Korea as another opportunity to reclaim a top-10 finish and reaffirm its status as a winter sports powerhouse.
한국에서는 2026년 대회를 계기로 다시 한 번 종합 10위권 진입을 노리고, 동계 스포츠 강국으로서의 위상을 재확인할 수 있을지 주목하고 있다.
