British sports outlet GiveMeSport selected the 15 greatest teams in world sports history, calling the process extremely difficult given the fierce competitiveness of global sport. Soccer accounted for the largest share, with six teams making the list, including AC Milan’s late-1980s European champions, two legendary eras of Real Madrid, Johan Cruyff’s Ajax, Pele’s dominant 1970 Brazil and Barcelona’s 2008–2011 side led by Lionel Messi, which ranked first among soccer teams and second overall.
영국 스포츠 매체 기브미스포츠(GiveMeSport)가 세계 스포츠 역사상 가장 위대한 팀 15곳을 선정해 발표했다.
기브미스포츠는 글로벌 스포츠의 경쟁 수준이 매우 치열한 만큼 선정 과정이 극히 어려웠다고 밝혔다. 종목별로는 축구가 가장 많은 비중을 차지해 총 6개 팀이 명단에 포함됐다. AC 밀란의 1980년대 후반 유럽 제패 팀, 레알 마드리드의 두 차례 전설적인 황금기, 요한 크루이프가 이끌었던 아약스, 펠레가 주축이 된 1970년 브라질 대표팀, 리오넬 메시가 이끈 바르셀로나의 2008~2011년 팀 등이 이름을 올렸다. 이 가운데 바르셀로나는 축구 팀 중 1위이자 전체 순위 2위를 차지했다.
American sports were represented by three NFL teams and three NBA teams, highlighted by Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls and Bill Russell’s Boston Celtics. The list also included the Soviet Union national ice hockey team and New Zealand’s All Blacks 2011-2015 lineup that won the sport's first-ever consecutive Rugby World Cup titles.
미국 스포츠에서는 NFL 3개 팀과 NBA 3개 팀이 포함됐으며, 마이클 조던의 시카고 불스와 빌 러셀이 활약한 보스턴 셀틱스가 대표적인 팀으로 꼽혔다. 이 밖에도 구소련 아이스하키 대표팀과 2011~2015년 연속 럭비 월드컵 우승을 달성한 뉴질랜드 올블랙스도 명단에 포함됐다.
