EBS documentary exploring literary world of the Korean Nobel laureate wins Grand Remi Award
A documentary on Nobel laureate Han Kang won top honors at the 58th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, the film's producer EBS, a public broadcaster, announced Thursday.
The WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival is a prestigious annual event that celebrates and showcases independent films from around the globe. Alongside the New York Television Festival and the Banff World Media Festival, it is recognized as one of North America’s three major media festivals.
“Han Kang Chronicles: A Tale of Seven Lives” received the Grand Remi Award, the festival’s highest distinction, at the 58th edition of the event, held in Houston, Texas, from April 24 to May 4.
The documentary delves into Kang’s literary universe through seven of her representative works, reimagined by a diverse group of artists including director Park Chan-wook, singer Choi Jung-hoon (also known by his stage name “Jannabi”), and choreographer Kim Bo-ram.
EBS also took home two other gold awards: “A Perfect Day” won in the long shorts documentary category, while “Factory Drop” claimed gold in the short science fiction category.
