Global hits such as ‘Lovely Runner,’ ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ among top contenders

Global hits such as “When Life Gives You Tangerines” and “Lovely Runner” are among the top contenders for the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, one of the country's most prestigious annual entertainment ceremonies .
The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards recognize and honor the best content broadcast on terrestrial channels, cable networks and streaming platforms from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, as well as Korean feature films released and theatrical productions performed locally within the same period.
In the television category, “Lovely Runner,” “The Tale of Lady Ok,” “Doubt,” “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call” and “When Life Gives You Tangerines” are nominated for best series.
Five actors have been nominated for best actor in the television category: Park Bo-gum (“When Life Gives You Tangerines”), Byun Woo-seok (“Lovely Runner”), Lee Jun-hyuk (“Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard”), Ju Ji-hoon (“The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call”) and Han Suk-kyu (“Doubt”).
The nominees for the best female actor in the TV category include Go Min-si (“The Frog”), Kim Tae-ri (“Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born”), Kim Hye-yoon (“Lovely Runner”), Lee Ji-eun (“When Life Gives You Tangerines”) and Jang Na-ra (“Good Partner”).
In the film category, “Love in the Big City,” “Revolver,” “House of the Seasons,” “Uprising” and “Harbin” are up for best film.
The nominees for best actor include Yoon Joo-sang (“The Land of Morning Calm”), Lee Byung-hun (“The Match”), Lee Hee-jun (“Handsome Guys”), Cho Jung-seok (“Pilot”) and Hyun Bin (“Harbin”).
Competing for best female actor in the film category are Kim Go-eun (“Love in the Big City”), Kim Geum-soon (“Jeong-sun”), Song Hye-gyo (“The Priests 2: Dark Nuns”), Jeon Do-yeon (“Revolver”) and Cho Yeo-jeong (“Hidden Face”).
The theater category, which was revived in 2019, recognizes exceptional theatrical achievements across productions, theatrical groups and individuals.
This year, all five nominees for the best theater are theatrical productions: “Gumi-style,” “The Jew of Malta,” “The Eldest Daughters,” “Jincheon’s recommended play recommended by Jincheon resident” (translated) and “The Sound of Tungso.”
The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, which partnered with Italian luxury brand Gucci for the third consecutive year, will take place May 5 at Coex in Seoul. The event will be broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2 and JTBC4.
