Internship, employment opportunities open for foreign national students

Hyundai Motor Company will begin the recruitment of global professionals starting Tuesday as it looks to bolster its pool of international experts, the Korean automaker said Monday.

According to Hyundai Motor, the recruitment categories are divided into three: internships for foreign students studying in Korea, internships for those with bachelor’s or master’s degrees from an overseas university, and employment of Ph.D. students in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or STEM.

Regarding the internships for international students in Korea, applicants must have obtained either a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a domestic university or graduate school, or be set to receive the degree before the end of February next year. These internship positions will be open for four areas — research and development, production and manufacturing, business and planning, and management support.

The same conditions will be required for those applying to internships for students with bachelor’s or master’s degrees from an overseas university. The internship for applicants who have studied abroad will take in applicants across five categories — research and development, manufacturing software, quality, cyber security, and business and planning.

Those selected by Hyundai Motor will undergo a five-week trial period between July and August this year. After that, the automaker will then employ those who complete the internship program with excellent performances.

The recruitment of Ph.D. students with STEM majors requires applicants to be able to begin working before the end of August next year. Seven categories will be available for these applicants — artificial intelligence and data, battery, hydrogen fuel cell, smart factory, robotics, advanced air mobility and cyber security.

Hyundai Motor will review applications in May and conduct the first round of interviews in June. The automaker plans to invite those who pass the first round of interviews to Korea in August to give them a chance to discuss technology with experts already working in the related fields, tour Hyundai Motor’s Namyang research center, and carry out the final interviews.
