A procession of trucks and tractors, driven by members of the Korean Peasants League, is stopped by the police at Namtaeryeong, the southwestern tip of Seoul, on Tuesday.

The group mobilized heavy-duty vehicles to drive through the city center, demanding the immediate impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. They planned to drive them to Gwanghwamun in central Seoul.

Seoul police, however, have banned the use of tractors and trucks, citing concerns about potential clashes and traffic congestion. A Seoul court has also ruled that tractors can not be driven into Seoul for a protest while permitting the limited entry of 20 trucks into the capital.

Tuesday's clash mirrors the Dec. 21, 2024, rally, when the same group brought several tractors into Seoul after a prolonged standoff with police at Namtaeryeong pass.

Following the court's ruling against the use of tractors, the group loaded tractors onto trucks as seen in this photo taken at the intersection of Segok-dong in Gangnam District, Seoul, Tuesday. (Photos by Yonhap)
