A senior Obama administration political appointee and longtime aide to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is resigning amid allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior lodged by at least three Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees.
The agency says Suzanne Barr submitted her resignation Saturday. Barr is chief of staff to ICE Director John Morton and is accused of sexually inappropriate behavior toward employees. The complaints are related to a sexual discrimination and retaliation lawsuit filed by a senior ICE agent in May.
Barr went on leave earlier this month after the New York Post reported on the lawsuit filed by James T. Hayes Jr., ICE's special agent in charge in New York. Additional employees came forward with their allegations around the same time. (AP)

‘대통령 임명’ 女고위관리 성추문 논란
버락 오바마 미국 대통령이 임명한 정무직 여성 고위관리 가 1일(현지시간) 성추문 논란에 책임을 지고 사임했다.
수전 바 미국 이민세관국(ICE) 사무처장은 이날 사직서를 통해 성추문 논란은 근거가 없지만 조직의 안정을 위해 자리에서 물러나겠다고 밝혔다.
재닛 나폴리타노 국토안보부 장관의 측근인 바 사무처장은 남성 부하직원들에게 성적으로 부적절한 행동을 했다는 혐의를 받고 있다.
콜롬비아 출장에 동행한 직원에게 성관계를 제의했고, 사무실 파티에서 한 직원 에게 '섹시하다'는 말을 건넸다는 것 등이 남성 직원들의 주장이다.
하원 국토안보위원회는 바 사무처장의 사임에도 불구하고 성추문 논란을 계속 조사할 계획이다.
앞서 제임스 헤이스 ICE 뉴욕사무소장은 바 사무처장이 남성직원들을 차별하고, 부당하게 대우했다는 이유로 400만달러(45억원)의 보상을 요구하는 소송을 제기하기 도 했다.
