A South Korean burglar who received plastic surgeries to avoid detection has been apprehended in Incheon, the police said Monday.
According to the police, the suspect broke into apartments across the country on 87 occasions between April and December last year, stealing 530 million won ($480,000) worth of goods.
The suspect, who has prior convictions for burglary, received surgery to change his jawline and wore wigs to avoid detection, the police said.
The suspect also received distraction osteogenesis –- surgical lengthening of bones -– to avoid detection.
The police said the suspect received surgeries in an attempt to hide his identity.
“He claims that he received plastic surgery to overcome his complex about his short stature, but that appears to be false,” the police said.
