Three illegal immigrants with Indonesian nationality have been deported for apparently following a terrorist group affiliated with al-Qaida, South Korea's spy agency said Tuesday.

A 32-year-old Indonesian man was deported from South Korea last Tuesday for violating the country's immigration control act, the National Intelligence Service said, without identifying the man.

The man, suspected of supporting the al-Nusra Front, the Syrian branch of al-Qaida, had written on his Facebook that he would carry out a suicide bombing attack and expressed his willingness to get involved in Jihad, the agency said.

He also opened a bank account for the purpose of supporting Islamist fighters and raised funds, according to the agency. A Jihadist flag was found at his house in North Gyeongsang Province.

The development underscored that South Korea is not a safe zone from terror attacks. South Korea is pushing to pass an anti-terrorism bill to better cope with possible terror attacks.

Last month, police arrested another 32-year-old Indonesian in South Chungcheong Province and confiscated a bowie knife, a mock M16 assault rifle and a number of books on Islam fundamentalism.

He was found to have uploaded a video clip of himself waving the al-Nusra Front's flag at a local mountain on social media in April and also wrote that he would participate in the Syrian war next year and become a martyr.

His two friends, both Indonesians, were deported on Nov. 24 from South Korea.

One of them was found to be a simple supporter of the terrorist group but the other had been telling people that he would die while fighting against the United States and Russia. He confessed that he supported and followed the terrorist group when questioned by South Korean officials, the spy agency said. (Yonhap)
