The Financial Supervisory Service is scheduled to hold an annual conference with foreign and local financial companies in March.

The meeting, dubbed FSS SPEAKS, is particularly designed to provide foreign financial services firms with more detailed information on Korea’s market conditions, including stock and bond investments.

Since its inaugural meeting in 2009, the meeting has established itself as a leading channel for direct communication between market participants and regulatory officials.

“The event has been helping overseas firms broaden their understanding of the nation’s financial markets and exchange views on financial regulators’ policy direction,” FSS spokeswoman Kim Soo-mi said.

She said this year’s event will continue its reputation as an informative and a rare networking opportunity.

The fourth annual conference is slated for March 9 at the Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul and the number of participants is projected to surpass 300.

In the U.S., there is a gathering dubbed, SEC SPEAKS. It is jointly hosted by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Practicing Law Institute.
