Hyundai, Kia team up with Kolon for advanced car materials
Hyundai Motor and Kia, Korea's leading automakers, partnered with Kolon Spaceworks to improve the materials of their eco-friendly mobility. Hyundai Motor Company began accepting preorders on Monday for the Ioniq 9, the largest sport utility vehicle in its full-electric Ioniq series, with deliveries set to begin in February. Fire breaks out at Hangeul Museum
A fire broke out at the National Hangeul Museum in Yongsan-gu, central Seoul, on Saturday. The fire started on the third floor of the museum around 8:40 a.m. and spread to the fourth floor, where construction materials were being stored. The fire was brought under control around 12:30 p.m., and no further spread is expected, according to Yongsan Fire Station. Korea has one charger for every 1.7 electric cars
Every 1.7 electric vehicles in South Korea has a charging station available across the country, showing a significant number of chargers compared to the global average. According to the Korea Smart Grid Association, a non-profit organization promoting renewable energy, Korea had 405,000 EV chargers installed nationwide as of Thursday. The number of EV chargers in Korea has increased rapidly in recent years, adding approximately 100,000 units annually since 2021, when there were 94,041 chargers.
