2015년 최저임금 시급이 올해보다 7.1%(370원) 오른 5580원으로 결정됐다.
최저임금위원회는 26일 오후 3시부터 전원회의를 열어 밤샘 회의 끝에 27일 새벽 내년 최저임금 인상안을 의결했다.
인상 폭은 지난해 7.2%(350원)와 비슷한 수준이다.
내년 최저임금 시급을 월급으로 환산하면 116만 6220원(월 209시간 사업장 기준)이다.
최저임금 인상으로 임금이 오르는 저임금 근로자는 268만 8000명으로 추산된다.
2010년 이후 연도별 최저임금 인상률은 2.75%(2010년), 5.1%(2011년), 6.0%(2012년), 6.1%(2013년), 7.2%(2014년) 등이었다.
애초 노동계는 내년 최저임금을 올해보다 26.8% 오른 6700원으로 해야 한다고 주장했고, 사용자 측은 동결안을 제시하면서 팽팽하게 맞섰다.
최저임금 의결 후 노동계는 “노동자들에게는 턱없이 부족한 금액이지만 최선을 다한 결과라고 생각한다”고 밝혔다.
최저임금 인상 소식에 네티즌들은 “최저임금 인상, 이게 많이 오른 건가?”, “최저임금 인상, 생각보다는 오른 듯” 등의 반응을 보였다.
Trilateral committee agrees to raise minimum wage for 2015
A trilateral committee of government, labor and management representatives agreed Friday to raise the country's minimum hourly wage by about 7.1 percent to 5,580 won ($5.50) per hour for next year, according to Yonhap News.
The Minimum Wage Council reached the deal after an intensive overnight discussion on compromise plans, marking the first time ever that a minimum wage has been set within a legal deadline, the report said.
The hourly wage translates to 44,640 won a day for those who work eight hours a day and 1.16 million won a month for those who work 209 hours a month.
Initially, the labor circle demanded a 26.8 percent increase from this year's hourly wage of 5,210 won, while the management proposed a freeze. But they put forward compromise plans during a plenary meeting of the council on Tuesday and began negotiating over them on Thursday afternoon, Yonhap reported. (From news reports)
