South Korea grabbed a team gold and an individual bronze in the women’s 50-meter rifle prone event at the Asian Games on Wednesday.

The trio of Na Yoon-kyung, Eum Bit-na, and Jeong Mi-ra put together 1,855.5 points to take the gold medal at Ongnyeon International Shooting Range in the country’s western port city of Incheon, achieving their second consecutive Asiad victory in this event.

China took silver with 1,854.1 points, and the Malaysian team got an aggregate 1,853.6 points for bronze.

The 23-year-old Eum also took a bronze medal of her own after shooting 620.6 points, trailing Narantuya Chuluunbadrakh of Mongolia, who earned 624.1 points for the gold, and Nur Suryani Binti Mohamed Taibi of Malaysia, who shot 620.6.

South Korea’s Jeong stood in ninth with 618.5 points and Na finished 17th with 616.4 points.

S. Korea takes golds in rapid fire

South Korea clinched another shooting gold on Wednesday, this time in the men’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol.

The trio of Jang Dae-kyu, Kim Jun-hong and Song Jong-ho combined for 1,747 points for gold at Ongnyeon International Shooting Range in South Korea’s western port city of Incheon.

The golden victory came minutes after the female squad claimed the top podium finish in the 50-meter rifle prone.

The Chinese team won silver with 1,746 points, followed by Vietnam with 1,704 points.

South Korean shooter Kim Jun-hong took the gold in the men’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol, winning his second gold of the day at the ongoing Asian Games on home soil.

Kim Ye-ji wins gold in sculls rowing

Kim Ye-ji of South Korea took the gold medal in rowing in the women’s single sculls event on Wednesday at the Asian Games.

Kim finished her 2-kilometer race in 8:46.52, 13.39 seconds faster than the silver medalist Lee Ka Man of Hong Kong.

This is only the second rowing gold medal for South Korea at an Asiad.

The race this year took place in Chungju Tangeum Lake Rowing Center in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, about 150 kilometers south of Seoul.

Kim trailed Lee by 2.75 seconds at the halfway point, but reached the 1,500-meter mark in 6:33.54, 4.43 seconds ahead of Lee. The South Korean then cruised to a comfortable victory.

The men’s quadruple sculls team of Kim In-won, Kim Hwi-gwan, Lee Seon-soo and Choi Do-sub won the silver medal behind China. (Yonhap)
