A man accused of falsifying his resume to get a higher salary was found guilty, a court said Thursday.
The Seoul Eastern District Court convicted a 40-year-old man surnamed Park of forgery and fraud, and sentenced him to eight months in jail with two-year stay of execution and 120 hours of community service.
Park had included fake information on his resume, claiming to have worked at the Korean Trade and Investment Promotion Corporation from 2000 to 2003.
He even included the official logo of KOTRA to make his job experience look realistic.
Park also overstated his annual income at his previous job, claiming to have made to 59 million won ($54,000), and asked for a higher salary when he landed a new job in 2012.
He used these means to receive an extra 26 million won in salary over seven months after being hired by a company affiliated with Kangwon Land in April 2012.
The court said that Park’s forgery was intentional, and ordered him to return 9 million won to the company.
