South Korea and the United States failed Tuesday to narrow differences on whether Washington would allow Seoul to enrich uranium and reprocess spent nuclear fuel for the South’s civil nuclear energy program, a senior Seoul official said.
The official at Seoul’s foreign ministry, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, made the remarks as the allies wrapped up two days of talks in Seoul aimed at revising a bilateral nuclear accord.
“We did not narrow differences on key issues,” the official said, adding that the two nations still remained far apart, despite Seoul’s bid to win U.S. permission to enrich uranium and reprocess spent nuclear fuel. (Yonhap News)
