Taihan Cable & Solution has appointed Kim Jun-seok as its new CEO, as the Korean cable maker seeks to accelerate global expansion and strengthen its high-voltage direct current and submarine cable businesses.

Kim played a key role in Hoban Group's acquisition of Taihan in 2021 and subsequently led corporate strategy and business expansion. Since 2023, he has served as executive vice president and head of the management division, overseeing operations, restructuring and investment.

As CEO, Kim will focus on expanding Taihan's presence in the US and Europe while strengthening its next-generation cable businesses. His priorities include upgrading manufacturing capabilities, improving project execution and boosting operational efficiency to turn recent investments into earnings growth.

In an inaugural address delivered through the company's internal network, Kim called for continuous improvements in technology, quality and cost competitiveness.

"We should respond swiftly to market shifts and customer needs and concentrate resources on core businesses," he said, also emphasizing that corporate growth should go hand in hand with employee well-being.

A Taihan official credited Kim with driving the company's transformation, saying his leadership would help advance its HVDC and submarine cable businesses and support sustainable global growth.

A graduate of Seoul National University with a degree in nuclear engineering, Kim previously worked at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power before joining Hoban Group in 2010, where he was involved in major acquisitions and business diversification.
