Four months after a woman in her 60s was fatally stabbed at her home in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, police have not arrested a suspect, despite receiving over 400 tips and offering a 100 million won ($74,000) reward.

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency reported that a man wearing a hat, face covering and gloves entered the victim’s yard around 12:20 a.m. on June 10. The man arrived empty-handed and appeared to survey the property before entering the house. Approximately two hours later, he left through the yard carrying a knife and a bag.

Around 6:30 a.m., the victim’s husband, who had been sleeping in a nearby building, discovered his wife deceased from stab wounds and called police.

On July 13, about a month after the incident, police announced a 100 million won reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. On July 27, with the family’s consent, they released surveillance footage showing the man entering the property.

In addition, on Aug. 3, police released further details, describing the suspect as approximately 175 centimeters tall with an average build.

Despite receiving over 400 tips and conducting an extensive investigation, police have not yet identified or apprehended the suspect.

“We are working hard to solve the case and will do our best to apprehend the suspect,” the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency told local media.

Cases that show no investigative progress after 90 days are generally classified as long-term unsolved cases. Police, however, have decided to keep investigating the case without classifying it as such.
