The K-Art & Culture Festival is bringing Korean art heritage to the city of Pietrasanta, Italy, this month through exhibitions, media arts and performances.

Now in its second year, the festival showcases the depth, beauty and distinctive spirit of Korean traditional arts and culture through contemporary interpretations. Bojagi, Korean calligraphy, minhwa, or traditional Korean folk painting, sculpture and media arts are just some of the art forms presented in the artistic landscape of Pietrasanta.

“Our aim is to expand the growing global interest in K-culture toward Korean traditional and fine art, while establishing a sustainable platform through which Korean artists can engage directly with European audiences," Suk Tae-jin and Kim Kyung-soo, representatives of festival organizers Gallery Ilbaekheon and Geulc21, said in a statement. "Through this second edition, we hope the K-Art & Culture Festival Pietrasanta will become a leading cultural festival connecting Korea and Italy."

Festival events will be held across major cultural venues and public spaces in the city, including Gallery Ilbaekheon Pietrasanta, Museo dei Bozzetti and the church and cloister of Sant’Agostino.

A special music program featuring baritone Cho Byung-joo and the Charlie Jung Jazz Trio will run from Thursday to Saturday.

Pietrasanta is one of Italy’s art capitals, renowned for its long-standing association with artists including Michelangelo. Today, the city remains a vibrant center of contemporary art, with museums, galleries, sculpture studios and artisan workshops.

The festival runs through Oct. 16.
