Rookie girl group Unchild has yet to announce a new comeback date weeks after abruptly postponing the release of its second single, raising concern among fans over the group’s next steps.

Unchild had been scheduled to release “Ting Ting” on Sept. 2 and had already begun a full promotional rollout.

The plans changed suddenly on Aug. 24, when agency High Up Entertainment announced through the group’s official channels that the single’s release would be postponed due to “internal circumstances at the company.”

The agency apologized to fans at the time and said a revised schedule would be announced once plans had been finalized. It did not elaborate on what prompted the postponement or when the new release date would be.

The timing of the announcement drew particular attention, as promotional content had continued to be released as scheduled up until the day of the announcement. With teaser content already out and the song itself partially unveiled, the sudden halt came unusually late in the usual comeback cycle for K-pop groups.

Just under a month has passed since the announcement was made, but there has been little follow-up from High Up Entertainment. New content and communication from the members have also largely stopped, prompting concern among the group’s fans over how long the hiatus may continue.

The uncertainty comes at a particularly sensitive point for the rookie act, which is still in its early stage of building a public profile and fan base. In an industry where frequent comebacks and appearances are crucial for rookie groups, Unchild’s open-ended absence risks slowing the momentum it had begun to build following its debut in April in 2026.

Unchild drew attention at debut as High Up Entertainment’s first new girl group since StayC and for its lineup including Haeun, who gained early recognition as a “dance prodigy” since starring in “Star King” in 2013. “Ting Ting” had been expected to mark the group’s first major follow-up release and an opportunity to build on the initial momentum that came with its first EP, “We Are Unchild.”
