A mandatory five-day vehicle restriction began Wednesday for public sector cars in South Korea, aimed at easing potential oil shortages amid Middle East tensions and promoting energy saving, the climate ministry said.

Cars are divided into five groups by license plate, with each group banned from driving on a designated weekday.
