The Korea Aerospace Administration has unveiled Friday a panoramic map of the universe captured by SPHEREx, a near-infrared space observatory jointly developed with US agency NASA.

SPHEREx is designed to conduct an all-sky survey, measuring the near-infrared spectra of about 450 million galaxies. The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute provided a nonflight cryogenic test chamber for the project.

Launched March 12, SPHEREx began full observations on May 1 and completed the map after observing the universe for about six months.
