After dipping below freezing, temperatures climbed back above zero Saturday, offering a brief respite from the cold. The biting winds that swept across the country also eased.

As of 3 p.m., Seoul’s temperature had risen to 3 degrees Celsius, about 3 degrees higher than at the same time on the previous day, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.

The weather agency projected daytime highs to reach around 7 degrees, roughly 2 degrees above the seasonal average.

The KMA said conditions would turn even milder on Sunday, unusually warm for this time of the year. Morning temperatures in Seoul will hover around 3 degrees, with daytime highs forecast to reach 12 degrees, about 4 degrees warmer than Saturday.
