Workers organized charcoal briquettes at a distribution site in Baeyang-dong, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, as early winter weather settled in Monday.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, cold air moving south from the north brought lower-than-average temperatures for the day, with readings below the seasonal norms of 3 to 12 degrees Celsius in the morning and 17 C to 21 C in the afternoon.
The cold spell is expected to last through Tuesday, with morning lows ranging from minus 3 C to 8 C and daytime highs between 10 C and 17 C.
Temperatures are forecast to rise to typical autumn levels from Wednesday.
