Starbucks Korea, the first franchise cafe in Korea to fully adopt paper straws, has reintroduced plastic straws. The new straws, piloted at select stores, are made entirely from plant-based materials derived from sugarcane. This move comes in response to customers’ complaints about the inconvenience of paper straws.

Both the new plant-based plastic straws and paper straws will be available at selected stores. Starbucks Korea said it has also installed dedicated collection bins for used straws.
