Paris Saint-Germain and their South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in are headed to the final of Europe's premier club football tournament.

PSG defeated Arsenal 2-1 in the second leg of the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League at Parc des Princes in Paris on Wednesday and advanced to the championship match thanks to a 3-1 aggregate win.

PSG will make their second appearance in the UEFA Champions League final at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, against the Italian side Inter Milan, who knocked off FC Barcelona in the other semifinal showdown. The final will kick off at 9 p.m. on May 31, or 4 a.m. on June 1.

Lee, however, watched Wednesday's match from the bench.

Lee suffered a left shin injury during a Ligue 1 contest against Strasbourg on Saturday and was substituted at halftime. He still made the squad list Wednesday but did not see action.

Lee also sat out both quarterfinal legs against Aston Villa and the first leg against Arsenal.

PSG's only other trip to the UEFA Champions League final came in 2020, when they fell to Bayern Munich 1-0. Last year, PSG lost to Borussia Dortmund in the semifinals.

Lee will try to become just the third South Korean player to appear in a Champions League final, joining former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung (2009 and 2011) and current Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min (2019).

Man United won the UEFA crown in 2008, but Park did not play in that year's final.

In Wednesday's match, Fabian Ruiz put PSG on the board in the 27th minute, and Achraf Hakimi had the team's second goal in the 72nd minute.

Bukayo Saka had the lone Arsenal goal four minutes later.

Needing a win to advance, Arsenal pushed hard from early on with attempts by Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard, but PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma stood tall in goal.

PSG nearly opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck the far post with a curling, right-footed shot, and then finally solved Arsenal 10 minutes later with Ruiz's left-footed strike.

Donnarumma came up with a fingertip save on Saka nearly 20 minutes after the restart, while Arsenal custodian David Raya tried to keep the visitors in the game by denying Vitinha on a 69th-minute penalty.

Hakimi scored an insurance marker three minutes later, and Saka's response was too little, too late for the Gunners. (Yonhap)
