Gochang barley festival

The annual Green Barley Festival will run through May 11 at Hagwon Farm in Gochang, North Jeolla Province.

Music performances, from the traditional performing art known as “nongak” to classical music and jazz, take place amidst beautiful fields of barley. Children can take part in treasure hunts.

Admission, including parking, is free.

Icheon Ceramic Festival

The annual Icheon Ceramic Festival is underway at Yes Park in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. Icheon is a UNESCO-recognized city of creative culture, particularly famed for ceramics.

Some 600 animal-themed ceramic pieces are on exhibition, with visitors invited to take part in a number of hands-on programs. The festival runs through May 6 and admission is free.

Tulips in Jangheung

Time is running out for a tulip festival at Skylight Garden in Jangheung-gun, South Jeolla Province. The garden is home to some 1,000 varieties of flowers and 300 types of trees.

The garden, an hour drive from Gwangju, will showcase tulips until Wednesday. Admission is 5,000 won for adults. Using camping zones requires additional fees.

Spring festival in Yangjae

A festival with everything — from cherry blossoms to live performances and food trucks — is running at the Yangjae Stream Waterside Stage between the First and Second Yeongdong bridges in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Through May 25, visitors are invited to illuminated paths lined with cherry blossom trees, opera singers, street performers and street food. Booths are selling handcrafts, traditional and modern.

Han River guide tours

Free guided tours of historic sites near and around the Han River will run through November.

The tours start at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily at 16 spots, evenly divided to the south and north of the river.

Make reservations five days in advance at visit-hangang.seoul.kr. Text messages will be sent out once reservations are made or if a tour is canceled.
