The average length of employment at South Korea’s major corporations has increased since 2020, despite economic uncertainty and a reported uptick in voluntary resignations and career changes.

According to data released Wednesday by CEO Score, a corporate analytics firm, the average tenure at 80 of the nation’s top 100 companies by revenue reached 14.03 years in 2024, up from 13.55 years in 2020.

The analysis covers companies that have consistently disclosed employment data over the past five years.

The trend shows a gradual rise as the average employee tenure climbed to 13.70 years in 2021, dipped slightly to 13.63 in 2022, then rose again to 13.91 in 2023.

Kia reported the longest average tenure among all surveyed firms, with its employees staying an average of 21.8 years. KT, the telecommunications company, followed at 20.5 years.

Doosan Bobcat recorded the shortest average tenure, at just 3.2 years.

SK Networks posted the most significant increase, with average tenure rising from 9.05 years in 2020 to 13.92 years in 2024 -- nearly five years of growth.

Hyundai Motor saw the steepest decline. The company’s average tenure fell from 18.80 years in 2020 to 15.80 years in 2024.
