[THE INVESTOR] Netmarble Games, South Korea's No. 1 mobile game developer, posted a second-quarter operating profit of 53.4 billion won (US$47.80 million), up 2.8 percent from a year ago.

Revenue soared 44.6 percent to 352.5 billion won during the April-June period, with its overseas sales making up 58 percent or 203.6 billion won.

It is the first time that the company’s overseas sales have exceeded more than half the total revenue.

“We are ramping up efforts to expand our presence in overseas market. We will continue localization and marketing activities,” the company said in a statement.

The company is seeking to go public on the nation’s benchmark stock exchange KOSPI later this year or early next year. The company has long contemplated an initial public offering in Korea or the US as part of its push for global expansion.
