The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation, has announced a new event series to showcase Korea’s rich cultural heritage.
Starting in April and running through October, the “2025 Senses of K-Culture” initiative will invite foreign residents in Korea to explore hidden cultural gems across the country and share their experiences with global audiences.
Held five times throughout the year, the program offers participants the chance to immerse themselves in “flavor, style and rest” through various cultural activities. Featured locations include Gimpo and Ganghwado in Gyeonggi Province, Donghae and Samcheok in Gangwon Province, Gyeongju in North Gyeongsang Province, Muju and Jinan in North Jeolla Province, and Gongju and Buyeo in South Chungcheong Province.
Participants — foreign nationals living in Korea — will spend two-nights and three days exploring local food, history and nature. These experiences will be captured in social media content such as YouTube vlogs, Instagram reels and Facebook posts, helping to spread Korean culture worldwide.
The first event of the series will take place from Saturday to Monday in Gimpo and Ganghwado. Highlights include visits to the Aegibong Peace Ecopark, offering the closest viewpoint of North Korea, Ganghwado’s Jeondeungsa Temple, island nature farms and traditional markets. Participants will also enjoy local culinary experiences such as tea ceremonies, temple food and mugwort rice cakes.
This program is open to all foreign nationals residing in Korea, including international students, marriage immigrants and foreign workers, as well as influencers with active social media presences. Participants are required to create and share experience-based content on their personal social media platforms.
Through this initiative, the culture ministry aims to foster a deeper understanding of Korean culture among foreign residents while enhancing Korea’s image on the global stage.
