Fancy some tea and dessert at a royal palace?

Online reservations have opened for “dessert tours” of Saenggwabang, the royal kitchen at Gyeongbokgung, the main Joseon-era (1392-1910) palace in Seoul, running April 16 to June 23. Reservations for the tours, offered four times daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., can be made through April 1 on Ticketlink. Admission costs 15,000 won.

Participants can enjoy royal snacks such as “juak,” or deep-fried glutinous rice cakes, and herbal tea prescribed by royal doctors to relieve a sore throat, according to the Korea Heritage Service.

The royal desserts will be served using tea tables, dishware and accessories like traditional knots made by artisans training to become holders of intangible cultural heritage titles.

Successful registrants for the tours will be announced April 3.
