Two Korean street art groups, Letitle and A-Run Crew, will transform the Sydney Opera House’s forecourt into a stage for street dance, breakdancing and parkour.

The event marks the first of its kind at the iconic Western Broadwalk, offering audiences a chance to experience contemporary Korean street performances outdoors.

Letitle will present “Purpose,” a 30-minute performance specially choreographed as a dance “conversation” with the Opera House building and its forecourt.

Five performers will flip, jump and move across the public space in a fusion of street dance and parkour.

A-Run Crew will stage “Wazac,” a 45-minute performance that blends breaking, street dance and theater.

The title, an onomatopoeia derived from the Korean word for the sound of breaking wood, serves as a metaphor for the way performers playfully build, balance, climb and break a set of wooden boards that bend, shake and snap with the beat.

The performances will take place April 12 to 17, with varying showtimes throughout the week. No registration is required, and visitors can check the Sydney Opera House’s official website for schedules.

For those eager to step into the world of breakdancing themselves, A-Run Crew will also host a one-time dance workshop at 10 a.m., April 13.

The 90-minute class, open to all skill levels, will introduce participants to the fundamentals of breaking, including toprock, downrock, power moves and freezes.

The session will include a warm-up, hands-on practice and a group choreography segment where the participants will learn and perform a short routine together.

The workshop is free, but advance registration is required.
