As demand for premium kimchi rises, more hotels in South Korea are launching subscription services to cater to consumers seeking high-quality, restaurant-grade kimchi at home.
Josun Hotel & Resort announced last week that it would introduce a subscription service for its premium kimchi through its online shopping platform. Customers can choose subscription periods of one, two or three months, along with the type and quantity of kimchi they prefer.
“We have launched a regular subscription service for customers to enjoy fresh premium kimchi conveniently without having to buy it every time they need it,” a hotel official said.
The decision comes as sales of premium kimchi continue to climb. Josun Hotel & Resort reported a 46 percent increase in kimchi sales last year compared to the previous year. Other luxury hotel chains are also capitalizing on the trend.
Paradise Hotel & Resort entered the kimchi business in October last year and sold more than 10,000 units in just four months. Lotte Hotel, which began selling premium kimchi in August 2023, saw sales rise 47 percent in January and February compared to the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts, which pioneered the hotel kimchi business, recorded a 24.6 percent increase in sales last year.
