South Korean Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Tuesday and discussed ways to bolster their countries' bilateral cooperation in energy and trade, Ahn's office said.
Ahn and Vietnamese Industry Minister Nguyen Hong Dien agreed to strengthen collaboration on nuclear power plants during their meeting in Seoul, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Under the agreement, the two countries plan to resume their working-level talks on nuclear power cooperation that have been suspended since 2017. The plan comes after Vietnam recently decided to restart its nuclear power plant business.
The two sides also agreed to swiftly complete the revision of their bilateral free trade agreement and closely communicate to support export companies amid global trade uncertainties.
The ministry said Ahn and Dien also discussed strengthening supply chain cooperation between Seoul and Hanoi, including their plan to establish a technology collaboration center on critical mineral supply chains.
Vietnam is South Korea's third-largest trading partner, with their bilateral trade reaching $86.8 billion in 2024, according to the ministry. (Yonhap)
