A man who was apparently arguing with his wife threw the family dog out the window of their second-floor home, animal rights group Weact said Friday.
The dog, which broke its legs from the fall, is currently under protection of the group. Weact persuaded the family to relinquish custody of the dog, under the condition of not filing criminal charges against the couple.
The video revealed Thursday by Weact shows a woman grabbing the dog by the neck in the hallway of their apartment complex in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, on Monday, during what appears to be a heated argument with the husband. The video then shows a man taking the dog and tossing it out of frame, which the group said was the husband throwing the dog out the window.
The video ends with the couple's 10-year-old son hurrying down the stairs, to check on the dog.
"The 10-year-old boy, who was the dog's friend, said goodbye and wished (for) its happiness ... We cannot forget the sight of the boy frantically running down (the stairs), as his only friend was tossed out the window," Weact said in the message posted on its Instagram page.
The couple denied the animal cruelty accusation, claiming that they were holding the dog when it suddenly jumped out the window.
Animal cruelty is punishable by up to three years in prison or a 30 million won ($20,800) fine, according to the Animal Protection Act.
