The International World in Korea (IWIK) and the Peruvian-Korean Academic Association (ASAPEC) signed a memorandum of understanding Monday to strengthen academic and cultural collaboration between the two countries.
The signing ceremony took place at the Embassy of Peru in Korea, attended by Guillen Quispe Yanymee Nimesia, president of ASAPEC, Kim Ah-sol, president of IWIK, and Paul Fernando Duclos Parodi, the Peruvian Ambassador to Korea.
Welcoming the agreement, Duclos highlighted the growing interest in Korea among Peruvians, which he noted has contributed to an increase in Peruvian students studying in Korea. He also emphasized the need to expand exchanges between the two nations, expressing hopes for future collaboration on cultural events.
Following the signing, representatives from each organization outlined their future projects, presenting their visions and initiatives.
Kim stressed the significance of the agreement within the broader context of bilateral relations, stating, "This year marks the 62nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Peru and Korea. It is exciting to see Korea gaining recognition in Peru. Likewise, I hope Peru will become more widely known in Korea."
Under the agreement, IWIK and ASAPEC plan to co-host academic and cultural programs throughout the year, facilitating deeper engagement between students and researchers from both countries.
