The Singapore Embassy in Seoul and the Korean Embassy in the city-state announced plans to unveil a commemorative logo on Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
The logo was created through a collaborative design competition organized by both embassies.
“The selected logo is the result of a two-month logo design workshop between K-Arts and Singapore’s Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, which are sister schools and well-known national art institutions in the ROK and Singapore, respectively,” said the Singapore embassy in Seoul in a press release. ROK is the acronym for South Korea's official name, the Republic of Korea.
“Throughout the workshop, students from both institutions engaged in cultural exchanges and dialogue, sharing their cultures and design inspirations, which fostered camaraderie and mutual understanding,” the release stated.
The winning design was selected after an evaluation by a panel of experts and officials from both countries’ ministries of foreign affairs and culture, as well as representatives from both embassies.
“The winning design will be used as the official logo for the Singapore-ROK 50th anniversary events throughout the year,” said the embassy.
Singapore and South Korea established diplomatic relations on Aug. 8, 1975.
“In this milestone year of 2025, both countries are working towards the upgrading of relations to a strategic partnership,” read the release.
Singapore Ambassador to Korea Eric Teo thanked the students from NAFA and K-Arts who participated in the logo design project.
“All of them are winners in their own right,” Teo said, adding that he hopes the students enjoyed the experience and gained a deeper understanding of one another’s cultures.
“There is much to look forward to in the next 50 years and beyond,” Teo remarked, describing Singapore and Korea as like-minded countries.
