S-Oil CEO Anwar Al-Hejazi is currently visiting Las Vegas to attend CES 2025, the world’s largest tech show, which kicked off Tuesday.

According to the Korean oil refiner on Wednesday, the CEO looked around several exhibition booths, including those of Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDS and Microsoft, accompanied by S-Oil President Ryu Yul and other executives.

Samsung SDS, the IT solutions unit of Samsung Group, in particular, is a key partner of S-Oil in upgrading the firm’s enterprise resource planning, or ERP system, and developing other IT solutions. Upon his visit to the company’s CES booth, the CEO reportedly paid keen attention to AI-based digital transformation solutions for corporations.

S-Oil said the delegation also held several meetings with international firms at the site to gain insights into emerging technologies, aiming to accelerate the firm’s artificial intelligence-driven innovations across all operations.

“Experiencing the latest products and technologies firsthand provided valuable insights into market dynamics shaped by AI and other innovations,” Al-Hejazi said during the visit. He added that the event offered a better understanding of how to address key industry challenges, such as energy transition, mobility electrification and rising demand for clean energy solutions.

S-Oil has been integrating Industry 4.0 technologies into its operations, the company explained. As part of this initiative, the company is pursuing a digital transformation megaproject that includes the construction of a world-class smart factory.

In line with the company’s sustainability goals, S-Oil is working to maximize profitability in its core businesses -- refining, petrochemicals and lubricants -- while expanding into emerging fields such as hydrogen energy, fuel cells and plastic recycling. The company added it is advancing the Shaheen project, Korea’s biggest petrochemicals plant construction project, which is expected to be completed in Ulsan by 2026.
